On September 6, 2021 NASA's Perserverance rover discovered a rock called a Martian Rock. It Landed on mars in Febuary of 2021. The samples can show many things about that place the things that this collect are how the planets formed how the planet was made, and if there is life and if there is what kind of life.

9/11 and the Terrorist Attack

 AHHHH! 9/11 is a tragic story for many but it is something we should all remember. 9/11, 2001 was a day of tragedy; Many people died and others watched in disbelief. It was a usual day for most of them. They woke up and went to work and suddenly at 8:46am a plane hit the north trade center in New York City. At first people thought it was an accident and someone just lost control since the towers were so high in the air. Little did they know they would soon find out it was no accident so people started evacuating. Many did know they were going to die so they called their family members and said their last goodbyes and I love you’s. Then soon after the first plane crashed there was one more at 9:03am that hit the other building more people screamed in terror and at 9:59 the second tower fell. That's around the time they found out it was not an accident it was an attack. People started taking pictures and some even caught people on camera jumping out of windows. Those same people caught on camera were faced with an impossible decision of either having to burn alive or jump out of this ginormous tower and die quickly. The many people who were witnessing this were screaming and crying because of the horrible situation. As they thought nothing could be worse than what was happening at 10:28 the first tower fell over and it was just chaos, sirens were beeping and people were screaming. Not only the people in the towers died but also heroes that risked their lives to save these terrified people. By that time 37 police officers were missing and dead including 2 paramedics and 200 firefighters. The next few days they were still looking through rumbles for survivors. There was not much luck though but they did find pictures and memorabilia. Retired Circus Elephants go to a New Home

The article that I chose is about 12 female elephants who had been retired from being in the circus. 

When elephants are in a circus, they don't learn how to live on their own in the wild. The White Oak Conservation Center is wide open and the elephants can wander and eat whenever they want and they are safe. They have a pond to play in and cool off in. The center also is home to lots of other endangered animals.

I chose to write about this article because I like elephants and I thought it was very interesting that the elephants got to go to a better place to live after they retired.

Two crashed into the twin towers in new york city one hit the pentagon and the other crashed in a field in pennsylvania. Over 2,000 people died that day some survived. There were people from another country that thought the united states was a horrible place. They thought they would go to heaven if they destroyed us. They targeted the twin towers because they were a symbol of our strength. They targeted the pentagon because that was were our military headquarters was. They say that the last plane was headed for the white house but the people fought back and they hit a field.

    For scientist, this was a thrilling moment/announcement. This event was a flash brighter than a billion suns! My paragraph is about Neutron stars and what they are. 

    What are neutron stars? 

    Neutron stars are basically a burnt out, dead stars. Neutron stars are also very hot, as hot as a million degrees. The craziest thing is that they would have a mass That is about half a million times the mass of the earth.

    My article is about a cargo boat getting stuck in the suez canal. 

    On march 23rd a huge ship named Ever Given got stuck in the seuz canal. The suez canal is a shortcut so cargo ships dont have to go around africa to deliver cargo. The ship was set free on march 29th.

    I think its important to know because it is an important cargo canal and it got jammed with ships for almost a week.

Boy Scout builds agility course for dogs at Michigan park

                   My article is about the obstacle course made by the 17 year old boy scout that is newsworthy because it was a good thing to do for the community of Township, Michigan. 

                    The agility course helps teach dogs new skills and provides dogs with exercise so it was a good deed for the teen to do. The boy that made the dog park did that because he wanted to help the community and so he could be an eagle scout. The deed was a good deed because there was only one dog park in the the town and it was a long trip for most people.

                    I think that the sixth grade fourth period should know about this article because it might inspire the us kids to do a good thing for our community. I hope that this article inspired us kids to do good deeds.

    Bali is an island in Indonesia. Usually the people of Bali would feed the monkeys but since COVID-19 the park the monkeys live in has been closed. The monkeys can eat animals and plants but the monkeys prefer the bananas and peanuts the tourist bring. So the monkeys started moving towards the villages and started breaking into homes and taking food from people's kitchens.

I think this is important because it is showing that animals are starting to get smarter than we think if they can break into homes.

    My article is all about Taliban taking over Afghanistan all over again when U.S. troops left Afghanistan. The U.S. troops were in Afghanistan for over 20 years trying to help the Afganies out. 

     In the late 1990's Taliban's military took over a place in Asia called Afghanistan because they weren't strong enough to fight back. The U.S. troops entered Afghanistan in 2001 to help the Afaganis take their country back, it is now 2021 and the U.S. are taking their troops out of Afghanistan because they believe they are spending to much money there. In other words the U.S. are taking their troops out of Afghanistan 20 years in the future. However the Taliban people never left. Afganies are trying their hardest to get out of Afghanistan as quick as possible because they a worried for their future or worried what's going to happen to their country. 

    This is important because the U.S. troops have spent 5.8 trillion dollars in Afghanistan trying to help, and when they left Taliban  took over Afghanistan once again, and the Afganies don't have a president because he left the country. It is not quite clear what will happen to the country next, and women's rights there might be taken away

Dog's and wolf's are from the same family they are different. Dog are trend to do like fetch or sit but scientist tried this on trend wolf's and the wolf's did not do it. Wolf's are not like dog's yes they are form the same family they are very different. Harry Potter Books are 24 Years Old!

In the article "J.K. Rowling thanks fans on Harry Potter's 20th anniversary" by Agence France-Presse I learned that the harry potter books are over 20 years old, and all the ways britain and others celebrated.

Some of the ways britain celebrated the first book of Harry Potter on its 20th anniversary are, printing copies of the first Harry Potter book in red, blue, green, and yellow, the main colors of the hogwarts houses. Schools in britain had crafts and activities like quizzes, based on Harry Potter, even churches played Harry Potter music. The way Twitter celebrated "pottermania" is, if you put the hashtag #harrypotter20, Twitter added a pair of rounded glasses and a lightning bolt to your screen.

I think this is important for my classmates to know is because Harry Potter is over twenty years old, it's about time they get to reading it. Not only is it entertaining, they are good for getting better vocab, a higher reading level, and have great movies too.

220,000 ton ship got stuck in canal

 

How a ship got stuck in the Suez Canal, and then freed

    Think of a 220,000 ton ship as long as the Empire State Building  wedged in a 120 mile canal. That is just what happened!

    This 400 meter tall ship called Ever Given got stuck in deep sand and mud. It took 6 whole days of hard work to get this vessel unstuck from the muck! That means the cargo on that ship got almost a week delay.   

    How did this spectacle happen? In one of the dreaded sand storms by Egypt made this colossal boat start to turn until completly stuck. The winds must have been maximal to wedge this 220,000 ton mass into the canal.

    Now that it's unstuck, I will explain how. The gravity of the Moon and Earth affect the tide and water from the ocean. So thankfully on a full moon night, the water got just high enough for the cargo ship to unfasten from the mud and sand. Now we can all get our cargo from this massive ship!

The Ever Given a is one of the largest ships in the world, which got stuck in the Suez Canal, an important ship route.  It is 400 meters or 1,300 feet long.  It is equivalent to the length of the Empire State building.  A sand storm hit which caused the ship to get stuck sideways across the canal. The stacked containers also might have caused it to get stuck. They might have worked like sails. There were 360 ships waiting to use the canal. There was a delay, that means it could also mean a delay of delivering goods. It took dozen tug boats and dredging machines to get it out. 6 days later the tides were high enough that the crew removed the ship and let it free. To this day we still aren't exactly sure how the Ever Given got stuck.   

It is important that they got the ship free.  The Suez canal is still an important route for energy and goods.  It is the shortest route from Europe to Asia.  The canals location is a key region for shipping oil.  There are approximately one million barrels of oil that travel through the Suez daily.

Scholarships can be very hard to get

My article is about...  Getting scholarships are very difficult to get and it takes a lot of hard work to get one.
College football is starting back up and everyone is ready. Kids and young adults hope to get a college scholarship in sports. College is very expensive and so kids around the age 8-15 may go to expensive travel teams or sport camps. Which mainly drives kids to play one sport or more. People who do get scholarships are really good and most likely want to become of a professional, and it does depend which sport like it's easier to get into smaller colleges and its cheaper to but it does depend on what sport they may do and if the team they have is good or not.

    My article is about animals moving less during the day and more at night. Most of land animals sleep at night. More and more of these animals are now acting more like owls as they stay awake at night.

    Scientist believe that the animals now spend less time looking for food. The more the people around these animals increase the amount of time they spend doing a night time activity increase.  When we go camping and hiking it scares all the animals away from where they live. 

    I think it is important to give the animals their space. If they have their space without us surrounding them, they should go back to normal sleeping habits. That big of a change can destroy their way of life.

My article is about a college called Yale and two scientist studying about what are dogs thinking.

The Yale college thinks that dogs are more human like then chimpanzee because they are more like a human child and that make them think what do dogs think Santos a person that studies the human brain is also studying monkeys because they are close to humans but not raised like dogs. For centuries dogs came to us for food but now they are emotionally in tune with us humans and they were raised in a house like a child and dogs try to tell us something. dogs have been studied in the past but now scientists want to study what a dog thinks. Dogs have been selected to be smarter but not the way we think about but they are emotionally smarter than us and monkeys.
