Marriage

Half of girls in South Sudan forced to marry

In Other countries girls under 18 are forced to marry people. These women are sold like cattle, they re sold to people that are at least 10 years older than them. One girl was sold to a man old enough to be her grand-father. She was beaten to death by this man because she refused to marry him. She was taken to her family and the man raped the girl in front of her family. It turns out that 39,000 girls are sold in one day in other countries Ike Egypt, or Arabia. I think this is important because people should marry who they want when they want. This is also important because its sad that people would beat and rape teens that are sold to 60 or older men. Its not fair that people would sell their children and then this happens there are only about 1,000 girls that actually got married at a young age and that survived until they were 18. FILE - In this picture taken Wednesday, July 18, 2012, Zali Idy, 12, poses in her bedroom in the remote village of Hawkantaki, Niger. Zali was married in 2011. One third and more of all girls are married in 42 countries, according to the U.N. Population Fund, referring to females under the age of 18. The highest number of cases occurs in some of the poorest countries, the agency figures show, with the West African nation of Niger bottom of the list with 75 percent of girls married before they turn 18.
