An asteroid is close to hitting Earth


So, about that asteroid near Earth ...

An asteroid is coming! But don't panic. NASA says Asteroid 2012 DA14 will make a record-close pass by Earth on February 15, but it won't hit us. Most asteroids are made of rocks, but some are metal. They orbit mostly between Jupiter and Mars in the main asteroid belt. Scientists estimate there are tens of thousands of asteroids and when they get close to our planet, they are called near-Earth objects.
 On February  15th and asteroid is extremely close to hitting Earth. So far there are thousands of asteroids that are someday going to hit Earth. We are watching several asteroids that haven't yet ruled out an Earth impact. All of them have a very low probability of coming close to Earth. Scientists said that people have nothing to worry about. I think this is important because even though scientists say we should not have to worry we should be prepared. Another reason I think this is important is because Scientists need to keep an on on the asteroid and warn people if they need to look out. To read more click here.
