Dec. 19, 2011: File photo shows Mei Xiang, the female giant panda at the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington. (caption)
A little six day old Giant Panda died at the age of six days old. The Panda mother is devastated but she has been going back to normal. She didn't eat and was skinny but now she is only 20 lbs. under weight from her usual weight of 240 lbs. The scientists at fist thought that the mother Panda Mei Xiang had killed the baby but later discovered that the young panda had died from liver disease. I think this article is important because the liver disease couid kill the animal's young and then the species would go extinct. Who knows, someday your children might ask you what a Giant Panda is. You don't want that, do you?
