A huge amount of the rarest orangutans where found in the forests of the island of Borneo. They are all listed as endangered and scientist estimate that there are about 3,000 to 4,500 left in the subspecies.This means that they are the most severely threatened.  I think this is important because now that we found a lot of these orangutans we can know be able to protect them. I also think this is important because  now that we know about all these orangutans we can view them and let people see them in zoos.
